Buyer questions / Shipping

"Can't this go DHL? Or is it sea only?"

One of the questions I get most. Short answer: air or sea was never one answer per order. It's one answer per line. On the same order, some parts go by courier and others by sea.

Air / courier

Light, high value-for-weight items: sensors, switches, modules, some lamps. When a workshop is waiting on the part to release a car.

Sea / container

Heavy steel and bulky items: bumpers, hoods, doors, radiators, shocks in quantity. Courier rates for heavy steel are money thrown away.

Flag early

Pressurized or oil-filled parts (gas-charged dampers): flagged early, because some couriers ask for extra paperwork or refuse them.

The rule I use on a mixed shipment: the urgent 5% of an order shouldn't wait on the slow 95%. So the list gets split three ways:

  1. Lines a workshop is actually waiting for earn air.
  2. Heavy steel rides the container.
  3. Pressurized or oil-filled parts get flagged early, before anyone promises courier dates.

Got a mixed list?

Send it and I'll tell you, line by line, what's worth air and what rides the container, with the VIN to confirm version.
