A new legislative initiative in the US House of Representatives aims to require automakers to provide independent repair shops and consumers with unrestricted access to diagnostic data, software updates, and replacement parts information. The motion specifically addresses telematics and connected-vehicle data, closing loopholes in earlier state-level agreements. A hearing is expected in Q3 2026.
